Welcome Situated along the shores of three sparkling lakes, Windsong is a new community within one of Florida's oldest. Windsong is located in the center of old Winter Park and mirrors the old-world charm of the area. Preservation of the large oaks, old cypress trees, and fragrant orange trees has made the new Windsong neighborhoods as lovely as the original lawns of the estate graced by peacocks.
History of Windsong Estate
The Windsong estate came into being in 1904 when Chicago Industrialist Charles Hosmer Morse purchased 200 acres around lakes Virginia, Berry, and Mizell. His daughter, Elizabeth Morse Genius, and her husband built a Mediterranean-style villa that epitomized the charming, old-world style of Winter Park. It was here on a particular summer evening that one of the ladies hung a bell from the branch of a tree. The cool lake breezes caused the bell to sound sweetly. Soon, bells and wind chimes hung throughout the estate. Their clear, gentle ringing inspired the name Windsong. The new Windsong neighborhoods are located adjacent to the property where the origninal Windsong estate home still sits.
